Topic:                    REASONS WHY SOME PEOPLE DON’T ATTEND CHURCH AND HOW YOU CAN HELP THEM

Theme Scriptures:           Romans 12:10

Objective:              The objective of this message is to enlighten the brethren on the subject so that their evangelism and follow-up can be more effective.

INTRODUCTION

To minister effectively as a missionary in your world, you need to acquaint yourself with some of the likely problems of those you may be dealing with. This is vital, as you will be required to give them scriptural solutions to their problems without being mean or confrontational. Don’t be judgmental. Rather be understanding and gently guide them in the right path (Eph 4:32; 1Thess 4:9; 1John2:5)

SOME REASONS & WHAT TO DO

 REASONWHAT TO DO
1Social commitments – they make other appointments at the same timeHelp them to prioritize and plan their time. Also, constantly remind them so that at the point of making those commitments, your reminder comes to bear. (Eph 5:6; Col 4:5)
2Marital problems.Teach them the Word and help them to relay the love of Christ in their homes and enjoy the victory of Christ. (2Cor 13:11; Col 2:2; 2Tim 1:7; 1John3:16)
3Financial difficulties.Help them manage their finances. Give them to help them but more importantly, teach them to give and also to work so they will have. (Mal 3:10; Luke 6:38; 2Cor 9:6-12; Prov 10:4; Prov 13:7; Prov 22:29; Prov 28:20; Prov 29:2)
4Deep involvement in various sins and vicesConstantly remind them that Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for him/her and that God is not holding anything against him/her and can really make his/her life beautiful. (2Cor 5:17-21)
5Health problemsTeach them the Word, pray for them, and help them to live in victory over sickness by the Word of God (1Pet 2:24). They may have to attend the Healing School. Show them how to register online (www.christembassyhealing-school.org)
6Lack of understanding of our communication: maybe they are somewhat illiterateTeach them the word and make sure they receive Christ and the Holy Spirit. Also, bring the communication to the level that they understand but also encourages them to become more literate. (1John 2:27; Prov 4:7; 1Cor 12:12,20)
7Loss of jobReassure them with the Word so they don’t get depressed and help them to see that the best person to be with is God regardless of the situation. Teach them that if they trust God, He will show them greater opportunities because He has a great plan for their lives. (Jeremiah 29:11)
8Parental pressureTeach them to love their parents and show good examples and be quick to let their parents know the good things they are learning. Also, visit with them and let their parents know that you are the right influence for their children and wards. (Eph 6:2; 2Cor 3:2)
9Work pressureTeach them and help them with reminders not just on the day of the meeting but before the day. (Matt 6:19-34; 2Cor 3:5; 2Cor 9:8a)
10Offended by someoneTeach them to walk in forgiveness and love. Teach them to overlook the shortcoming of others and see it not as a deliberate act to sabotage them, but rather as a mistake. (1Cor 13:4-8; Gal 6:1; Eph 4:32)
11Require additional push such as remindersRemind them constantly. Call them, visit them. Take them out when visiting others. Get them involved. Give them something to do and follow up on them to do it. (Phil 1:6; Rom 12:4-5)

CONCLUSION

Walking in the word of God on your own is an uphill task when you are not attending a spirit-filled church. However, participating fully in such a church enables you to find out more about the church and its members. As you develop your human spirit through church services, your walk in the word becomes easier and more productive.

As a child of God, you must identify yourself with a local assembly, a place you can call HOME, and participate fully in the activities. Otherwise, you’ll deprive yourself of a lot of God’s blessings and will not be walking out of line with His word.

Therefore, do not forsake the assembly of the saints.
